About Coach Val
Hi! I am Valeria Quintero but you can call me Val. I have been skating for over 15 years and have been dedicated to the sport competitively and in more recent years as a coach. I am certified by the United Skates Figure Skating Association in high level ice dance and skating skills. I currently coach private lessons and am a Learn to Skate instructor at EPIC ice rink. I love helping skaters build confidence and strong fundamentals in a fun and supportive environment.

Yes, I do. I have taught students that figure skate and hockey skate. I must make clear that I am not a hockey coach, but the edge work and technique needed in skating is essential for both dicipplines (especially when students are first starting out)
Should I learn to skate on hockey skates or figure skates?
Generally figure skates are easier to learn to skate on as their blades are longer and the toe pick can prevent some falls.
